Drug Mules Opting for Synthetic Drugs Instead of Marijuana

TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – Drug carriers who have traditionally transported drugs on foot through the border, continue to fill their backpacks but instead of marijuana, now they are transporting synthetic drugs.

The routes they use are the same that they are used to, the only thing that has changed is that instead of marijuana they carry synthetic drugs.

“The Tucson Sector Border Patrol has observed that criminal organizations are smuggling synthetic drugs along routes previously used to smuggle marijuana,” they cited in a report.

Last Monday, the third seizure happened under these conditions, where methamphetamines were found in known routes used by drug mules to transport marijuana across the Mexico-United States border.

The most recent case occurred in Southwest of Sells, in the mountainous area known as Mezquite, where they captured five people in possession of 65.77 kilos of methamphetamine.
