Cecilia Yépiz Reyna’s murder solved
SONORA.- Fernando N was captured and accused of the murder of Cecilia Yépiz Reyna, former Urban Development Director of the City of Nogales, Sonora, México.
The Sonora State Attorney’s Office released that Fernando, 43, is accused of femicide and the crimes of inhumation and exhumation of a body.
He was captured May 18 by Sonora state agents in collaboration with the San Luis Potosí State Attorney’s Office, whose agents located the suspect in a house in Villa de Pozos neighborhood in San Luis Potosí city.
Fernando tries to hide in the South of México
In the latest weeks, Fernando has been hiding in five different states of México.
After the capture, the suspect was transported by plane to Hermosillo and transferred to Nogales by state police officers.
The investigators released that they made forensic and criminological examinations as a part of the investigation.
Compelling evidence in the murder of Cecilia Yépiz Reyna
Some of the most compelling pieces of evidence found were the videos and photographs collected by the surveillance cameras of local businesses in which Yépiz Reyna was seen alive for the last time on January 5 of 2021 on Álvaro Obregón avenue.
On those media files, the victim was seen boarding a Jeep, Cherokee, license plates of Sonora.
The last time that the car was detected was in Ejido Cíbuta by C5 system of highway cameras.
On March 5 the body of Yépiz Reyna was located inside a plastic recipient buried in a lot in the south area of Nogales.
The suspect has a criminal record from 2003 for the crime of kidnapping committed in Nogales, Sonora, for which he was sentenced to 4 years and five months in prison.
