Border Crossing Today

NOGALES. The week started in Nogales with businesses closed, long lines to cross the border and a dollar-peso exchange rate of 1-21 and in the most extreme cases up to 1-22.

At the area “Los Arcos”, a few meters from Dennis DeConcini international port of entry, most of the businesses are either money exchange centers or insurance sales, and most of them remain closed. The wait time this morning was about 30 minutes and the line was over 330 yards long.

The wait time at Mariposa gate at 3:00 p.m. according to the official site of Customs and Border Protection Department (CBP), was about 30 minutes.

The Morley International Pedestrian Port of Entry has been closed for a week.

The dollar exchange rate, depending on the business, was between 21 and 22 pesos.

It has now been two weeks since restrictions began for border crossing into the United States, which include the US authorities only allowing entry for essential travel.

Some of the profiles considered as “essential crossing” are all US residents, citizens and diplomats, as well as legal employees of the United States and crossings due to medical emergencies and military operations.
