Apartment Fire in Tucson, One Person Found Dead
TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – A Tucson resident lost his life in a fire on Thursday afternoon in an apartment complex located on the block 100 of W. Valencia Avenue.
According to information from the Tucson Fire Department, the emergency was reported at 1:52 p.m. and by 2:08 p.m. it was under control.
The report shows that Station 14 crews were the first to arrive on the scene in a matter of minutes, and saw smoke and flames coming out of the windows and door frame of a second-floor apartment.
Firefighters quickly pulled the hoses and when the fire was considered under control, they searched the apartment. They found a dead man of unknown age.
It took 13 units and 29 firefighters to control the fire in 12 minutes. Firefighters did not sustain any injuries.
Several adjacent apartments were damaged, and paramedics of the American Red Cross assisted the residents.
Tucson Police Department fire investigators are analyzing how the fire started. Smoke detecting alarms were not heard. This is the fourth house fire fatality of the year in Tucson.
