Wait Times at The Border Decrease
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – This Saturday marks four weeks since US authorities announced border crossings restrictions for passengers traveling North of the border.
Today at noon, the border crossing lanes were almost empty. Wait time was approximately 15 minutes for drivers to cross the international border from Mexico into the United States.
The Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry had three lanes open. Operated by Customs and Border Protection officers on two standard lanes and one Sentry lane.
At the Mariposa Port of Entry the conditions were similar. Few drivers lined up at noon and wait time to cross the border into the United States did not exceed 20 minutes.
Until noon, southbound border crossing from the US into Mexico documented the entry of 620 vehicles through the Garita Puerta de México, according to a health workers operating a health contingency filter.
This Monday marks a month since restrictions imposed by Mexican and US authorities were put in place. These restrictions only allow access into the USA to legal residents and citizens of the USA and essential travelers. Essential travelers include but are not limited to those that work in the commercial truck industry, legal workers and people who travel for medical treatment, military or diplomatic operations.
