US Citizen Arrested for Possession in Immigration Checkpoint

TUCSON, ARIZONA, US – Wellton Station agents working at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8 arrest a US citizen found in possession of marijuana, cash, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

Monday afternoon, agents referred a Honda Civic to the secondary inspection area after a U.S. Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle, according to a press release.

After further investigation, agents discovered a plastic storage bag with over a pound of marijuana, a small plastic bag with trace amounts of a crystalline substance, more than $2,100, and a 40-caliber Glock 22 pistol.

The male driver, a 26-year-old U.S. citizen from Tucson, was arrested and taken into custody. The narcotics, cash, firearm, and vehicle were seized.
