Two Homicides in less than 24 Hours

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Nogales registers two homicides today in two separate incidents. The first incident, a murder report from the neighborhood Lomas de Nogales. The second incident, a body found in the Internacional Highway at the chapels of the Santa Muerte (Holy Death). 

The first case is registered at 0:09 am as local police officers were dispatched to Mercurio Street, in the Lomas de Nogales 1 neighborhood.

Police officers found a woman holding her dead husband in her arms, he had a gunshot wound in the head. The victim’s identity is 40-year-old Francisco.

His wife recounts that when walking down the stairs with her husband, a man stopped them, shot her husband in the head, and fled.

Mexican Red Cross paramedics arrived moments later but Francisco had no vital signs.

The second case is recorded at 5:40 am. Police officers received a report that a dead man was found on the International Highway, near the chapels of the Santa Muerte.

The victim is estimated to be about 35 years of age, though the identity is not released yet. Police officers also found three hammer cartridges and a handgun near the body.
