#MaskUpTucson Free Mask Distribution Event

This Saturday, July 18, from 7-10 a.m., the Mayor and Tucson City Council are holding the citywide #MaskUpTucson Free Mask Distribution Event.

It will be held at six locations throughout the city, one location in each ward, and will be an opportunity for community members to obtain washable face coverings for themselves and their families.

Wearing a face covering is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19, along with proper hand-washing and practicing social/physical distancing.

Mayor and Council obtained 56,000 washable ear loop cloth masks to help those who have not been able to get them. Each council office, including the mayor who will be at Ward 3, will have 8,000 masks available, and masks will be provided throughout the event or until they have all been distributed.

The locations are as follows:

  • Ward 1 Mission Manor Park, Main Parking Lot, 5900 S 12th Ave.
  • Ward2 Udall Recreation Center, Main Parking Lot, 7200 E Tanque Verde Road
  • Ward3 / Mayor’s Office Donna Liggins Recreation Center, Main Parking Lot, 2160 N 6th Ave.
  • Ward4 Lincoln Park, Main Parking Lot, 4325 S. Pantano Road
  • Ward5 El Pueblo Recreation Center, Main Parking Lot, 101 W. Irvington Road
  • Ward6 Ward 6 Council Office, 3202 E 1st St.

Essential Parks Employees: BEHIND THE MASKS

– During this pandemic, heroes are found everywhere, and a new label has been given to them – “essential.” There are also “invisible essentials” stepping up in this time of need. You will likely never see them, but they are there…at the park early every morning, cleaning bathrooms, picking up trash, trimming trees, promptly removing graffiti, or addressing a minor repair. Follow the video link below for a look behind the mask of these vital Tucson Parks and Recreation maintenance employees.
