Tucson Man Sentenced for Abusive Sexual Contact
TUCSON, ARIZONA, US – A Tucson resident was sentenced to prison for a term of 2 years and 120 months of supervised release, the Justice Department reported.
Martin Gerardo Mendoza, 51, was sentenced by the United States Chief District Judge David G. Campbell in Tucson.
According to information released through a press release, in August 2019, Mendoza pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact. Between May 3 and 4 of 2018, Mendoza knowingly and intentionally had sexual contact with the victim without his permission. Mendoza committed the act on the Yavapai-Prescott reservation in Prescott, Arizona. The victim is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tucson Police Department conducted the investigation in this case.
Assistant United States Attorneys Christina Covault and William Voit, Arizona District, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.
