Tucson Bighorn Fire Continues

TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – The Bighorn fire in North Tucson continues its progress, affecting a total of 14,673 acres until Monday.

The fire has been contained 22% and there are 633 working to extinguish the fire.

The most recent alerts from the Pima County Office of Emergency Management were issued on Sunday at 7:20 p.m.

Some areas of Catalina and near Catalina State Park dropped an alert level from “evacuate” to “stay alert”. They were allowed to go home but had to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

At 7:30 pm it was announced that residents of some areas of Mount Lemmon should be prepared in case of an order of evacuation.

Mount Lemmon and Mount Bigelow areas north of Ridge Road, including Summerhaven remain one level prior from being evacuated.

Controlled burning is carried out in places such as Romero and Cargodera Canyons to push the flames to the Northeast.

Firemen continue to work to contain the flames in Mount Lemmon and Ventana Canyon.
