Trash Collection Service Continues Despite Covid-19 Challenges
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Trash collection workers in Nogales are still doing their jobs, despite challenges thrown their way by the coronavirus. Trash collection in Nogales, Sonora increased by 20% due to the health contingency caused by Covid-19.
José de Jesús Báez, chief of Public Services, said that the daily average of collected trash during the pandemic is about 300 tons, this is 60 more tons that the normal average.
He explained that by having the community spend more time in their homes as part of the “Stay at Home” state program, more garbage has been produced by each household.
The service will continue, he announced, and urged the community to have patience if they experience any delays with the trash collection service.
Baez also announced that new routes would be implemented for the service and assures that protective actions have been implemented to protect the health of the workers.
He asked the community to make sure they seal all trash bags to prevent the spread of the virus.
