Thirteen People Arrested Over the Weekend for Smuggle Attempts
NOGALES, ARIZONA, USA – The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reports the arrest of thirteen people over the weekend, which were carrying drugs in their bodies through the Arizona border ports of entry.
Identified as “body carriers”, the suspects tried to introduce into the U.S. a total of .3 pounds of fentanyl, 16 pounds of methamphetamine, and 2.4 pounds on heroin.
In Nogales, an 18-year-old US citizen was detained in one of the ports of entry with contraband of 18 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in his car.
In Lukeville, bordering Sonoyta, they seized 226 grams of fentanyl that a 33-year-old female US citizen was hiding in her body. She was arrested while trying to cross the border on board a vehicle.
In San Luis they seized 272 grams of cocaine and 181 grams of fentanyl that an 18-year-old man hid inside a guitar.
They also captured a 43-year-old woman trying to cross to the United States in a car with 17 pounds of methamphetamine.
