Single Center for Outpatient Care for Covid-19
The Border Reports – Hermosillo, Sonora
In order to provide care to patients suspected of Covid-19, the Secretary of Health in Sonora through the Epidemiology Unit, set up in Hermosillo the Single Center for Outpatient Care, said José Jesús Duarte Cubillas, chief of Health Jurisdiction No. 1.
Duarte Cubillas explained that the Secretary of Health, Enrique Clausen Iberri, has provided the means for this center to start operating on Tuesday, April 7, and noted that it is located at Domingo Olivares Health Center on the streets of Gastón Madrid.
“We will be receiving people who are redirected to us by the call center, 9-1-1 and from the different health centers, they will be evaluated here and if necessary we will apply the test and send it to the State Laboratory of Public Health for processing”, he explained.
He added that in the next few days, more centers like this one will open in San Luis Río Colorado, Nogales, Caborca, Guaymas, Ciudad Obregón and Navojoa as a first phase.
The doctor indicated that in those cases that test positive for Covid-19, there will be a timely follow-up and an investigation will be made of the patient’s close contacts, for monitoring.
“We have four offices each with a doctor, nurse, an epidemiologist and a sampling area and pharmacy, all with the strictest hygiene and prevention measures, as well as an ambulance to transfer patients to the General Hospital, if necessary.”
Duarte Cubillas explained that they will start with a morning shift from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 14:30; however, it is anticipated that the hours will be extended to the evening shift and weekends, as required.
