Shooting in Magdalena That Lasted Several Hours

MAGDALENA, SONORA, MX – Hours of shootings were reported early Wednesday morning on the road that leads from Magdalena de Kino to Cucurpe, Sonora.

Until now, the state authorities have not confirmed deaths or injuries; only that fire weapons and vehicles shot were confiscated and transferred to the city of Nogales for investigation.

The Mexican Army, the State Police and the Local Police attended the incident.

The shootings were reported around 1:20 a.m by Magdalena residents. Officers chased several vehicles on the road that connects to Cucurpe.

With the support of a helicopter from Public Safety Security, as well as the activation of the local Police and the Mexican Army, the state authorities were able to secure the weapons.

Seven vehicles of different models were confiscated during the operation. They found several bullets of different calibers inside the cars.

Also, they found two fragmentation grenades, three M4 type long fire weapons, and a handgun, as well as two AK 47 rifles and a shotgun.
