Scarce Gradual Reopening of Businesses in Nogales
NOGALES, ARIZONA, USA – Yesterday only a few stores began with the gradual reopening in Nogales, a city where the workers of the city government have already returned to work.
The mayor Arturo Garino said that the commerce situation continued this Monday in almost the same conditions as last week.
He said that it is not just about reopening commerce, but also about having the necessary safety precautions. One example is that restaurants can now operate but under some restrictions, likewise for other retail businesses.
“The only store that I saw has opened is Hobby Lobby, because the stay at home mandate is still in effect until May 15 per the governor, and that is if it is not changed before that date,” he said.
The mayor announced that city government workers are back at work but behind closed doors, to avoid having direct contact with the community at the risk of spreading of Covid-19.
According to the announcement made by the Arizona State Government, as of May 4, non-essential businesses could reopen but only under certain conditions.
Between May 4 and 8 they would open but with home delivery, curbside pickup, or drive through.
