San Luis Rio Colorado Partially Closes Southbound Border Crossing

SAN LUIS, ARIZONA, USA – Beginning Monday, April 20, the international port of entry of San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora and San Luis, Arizona, will partially close entry from the United States into Mexico.

In a bulletin, the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that the action is in compliance of a request made by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) in Mexico.

Border crossing into Mexico will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for all passengers and pedestrians.

Northbound border crossing which is from Mexico into the United States, will remain open with the same restrictions of meeting essential crossing criteria that began four weeks ago.

San Luis Rio Colorado currently has the highest volume of Covid-19 infections in Sonora. Out of the 177 confirmed infected people in the state of Sonora, 49 are residents of San Luis Rio Colorado. Out of the 14 deaths in Sonora, San Luis Rio Colorado has 4.


Nogales Port of Entry – No Changes

Juan Francisco Gim Nogales, administrator of the Nogales, Mexico Port of Entry indicated that until this time, there is no instruction to close the Nogales port.

For now, the Nogales border crossing points continue to operate in the same circumstances as they did several weeks ago.

The Dennis DeConcini Port remains open 24 hours both ways. Crossings into the United States are still under the restrictions of essential travel only.

The Mariposa Port operates from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Morley pedestrian remains closed.
