Risks Increase For Illegal Immigrants
TUCSON, ARIZONA, US – The most dangerous condition which causes many migrant deaths returns this weekend; It is the heat, and this weekend the temperatures will approach the triple digits.
Considering the forecasted upcoming weather conditions, the Border Patrol alerted immigrants to avoid crossing the border illegally. Especially in the desertic area between the states of Arizona and Sonora.
Historically, during this period, the Tucson sector of the Border Patrol, has recorded a substantial increase in 911 calls and the activation of the rescue towers for people in distress.
Emergency calls for lost or abandoned migrants in the Arizona desert, without food or water, tend to occur more frequently during this season.
Starting this month, immigration authorities expect an increase in distress calls, said the Border Patrol in a press release.
In the desert region of Arizona and Sonora, there are around 34 rescue towers strategically located in remote areas of the western desert corridor, placed as an aid measure for immigrants in danger.
