Recipe of the Day: Mexican Style Beef Steak

Mexican Style Beef Steak is a tasty recipe loaded with flavor and protein. Beef Steak in Mexico is very thin, when cooked you can cut it up and make tacos with it. This time we’ll be serving Mexican style beef steak with rice and beans.

Mexican Style Beef Steak is very quick to cook, the secret is to leave enough time to marinate it. There are many types of marinades out there, some of the most common ingredients are vinegar, lime, orange juice, salt, pepper, wine, mustard, beer, spices, soy sauce and even sake. This is the marinade I use for this beef steak, but you can put in your own twist to it.

There are also different marinades for different types of meat, for example I use a different one with mustard for chicken.

If you can prepare this the night before, even better. Beef can be marinated for up to 24 hours to make the meat tender and juicy. If you are short on time, make sure you marinate at least for one hour. Cooking is the second part of the secret. These steaks are so think that you only need about 1 minute per each side. That will leave the meat fully cooked but not burnt nor hard to chew.

Mexican Style Beef Steak

  • 4 thin beef steaks
  • 4 limes
  • 2 oranges ((you can substitute with tangerine))
  • jugo Maggi seasoning sauce
  • garlic
  • sea salt ((you can substitute with any salt))
  • olive oil ((or the oil you prefer))
  • worcestershire sauce
  • ground pepper
  • dried oregano leaves

Marinade

  1. Cut the garlic in thin slices, juice the limes and oranges.

  2. In a container mix the orange juice, lime juice, oil, salt, pepper, oregano, worcestershire sauce, maggi sauce, and garlic. Let it sit while you prepare the steaks

Beef Steaks

  1. Take a meat tenderizer (meat pounder) and use it on the meat to tenderize it.

  2. Put each steak individually into the container with the marinade. Soak completely and transfer to a zip lock bag

  3. After you are done with all the steaks pour the rest of the marinade into the zip lock bag and close. Move around to soak the steaks in the marinade.

  4. Leave on the fridge for at least one hour

  5. Heat a grill pan on high heat. If you don't have a grill pan use a frying pan. When the pan is very hot, put in your steak. This will be a quick process, I recommend one minute per each side since the steak is very thin.

TIP: Since it is very quick to cook, I usually serve right away.

  6. Serve right away. You did it again beautiful! Good job!
