PESP Commander Killed in an Ambush
IMURIS, SONORA, MX – Daniel Hernandez Romero, a commander of Public Safety State Police (PESP), was killed on Thursday evening after an armed ambush in the Imuris, Sonora area.
According to the PESP press release, the attack occurred around 1:30 pm, when the commander and group leader, was conducting aerial surveillance operations for the municipalities of Imuris, Trincheras, and Cucurpe.
According to the police report, they found a group of suspicious individuals, so they lowered the helicopter and were attacked by armed men on the ground.
The members of the PESP repelled the attack, but the team leader suffered gunshot injuries and was killed during the confrontation.
At the moment, PESP and other police agencies are deployed in the area with the mission to arrest those responsible for the armed aggression and restore peace in the area.
PESP announced that until his last moment, Commander Daniel Hernandez Romero fought crime in this state and gave his life in service to protect Sonoran families.
