One Immigrant Rescued, Two Dead
YUMA, ARIZONA, USA – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station track a group of three illegal aliens through the desert, they apprehend one and find the other two dead.
At approximately 5 am, Wellton Station agents apprehended a 50-year-old Mexican national who was illegally present in the United States. The person was roaming near Wellton Station.
The illegal alien told agents that there were two other people in his group, and they had been left behind by their smuggler (Coyote).
Agents tracked the missing individuals and at approximately 6:50 am, they found the body of one unidentified man near the Copper Mountains.
Agents notified the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) and requested additional personnel to search for the third person.
Agents continued their search while Yuma Sector’s Border Search, Trauma, and Rescue Unit (BORSTAR) was mobilized.
At approximately 12:20 pm, agents found clothing, food, and a cell phone that the third person left behind. Additionally, the third person had written “HELP” on the ground of the wash with an arrow pointing north.
At approximately 5:20 pm, an AMO Yuma Air Branch EC120 helicopter discovered the third person lying motionless on the ground. The individual was deceased.
YCSO took custody of the two bodies.
