Nogales, One Of Top 6 Cities With Highest Presence of Gun Trafficking
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Nogales, is listed as one of the six borders with the highest presence of gun trafficking between the United States and Mexico.
The other borders on the list are San Diego-Tijuana, El Paso-Ciudad Juárez, Laredo-Nuevo Laredo, McAllen-Reynosa and Brownsville-Matamoros.
In the past month, a large number of firearms were seized at border crossings. In Nogales, about 50,000 bullets and a dozen rifles were seized on both sides of the border.
The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Mexican government have recognized the importance of the binational cooperation in the combat of gun trafficking.
They also announced that they would hold regular conferences to follow up on specific issues and new threats in border regions, informed CBP.
In a statement, the Government of Mexico announced that inspection points will increase from 6 to 20, and personal protection measures will be reinforced.
Money
According to CBP, the seizure of cash has increased at the border ports of entry.
In April, 3.1 million dollars was confiscated, whose destiny was crime organizations in Mexico.
“CBP continues to hit the cartels where it hurts by taking their money and preventing them from fomenting their criminal and inhumane activities,” CBP said.
