Nogales Mayor Broadcasts Urgent Message Regarding Covid-19

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – The Mayor of Nogales, Sonora, Jesus Pujol broadcasted a live session today at 6:00pm via Gobierno de la Ciudad de Nogales‘s Facebook page. He urged the Nogales community to continue staying home as much as possible and to continue applying all the sanitary measures such as facemasks, handwashing, and social distancing. The intent he said, is to minimize the infection curve and prevent the collapse of hospitals and mortuaries due to overcrowding.

“It is time to work together. It is up to us as the government to take care of you, your health, and your family, but without your help, there is not much we can do. Help us help you…. Let us help you…. Stay home please.” Said the mayor.

It was then time for Doctor Alberto Dicochea to take the mic. He recognized all members of the community that is taking the necessary precautions must continue working such as medical personnel and workers of industries classified as essential.

The doctor sent his condolences to the family of Dr. Castillo Haro who passed away a few days ago due to complications of Covid-19. Dr. Castillo Haro was an esteemed member of the community and a renowned doctor who specialized in internal medicine.

“It is very important to remember that this illness affects everyone, we know that vulnerable groups have a higher probability of experiencing complications, we also know of younger people that with no apparent risk factors also experience severe complications, even death,” said Dr. Dicochea

He reminded the community to only go out for essential reasons and to follow health prevention instructions when in public places.

The major of Nogales closed by letting everyone know that we are not yet in the phase of economic reactivation therefore we should not lower our guards. He reminded everyone to stay home if it’s not necessary to go out. Pujol assured the community that his government will continue working hard until the problem is resolved. So that the beautiful Nogales community can go back to normal as soon as possible and they can go back to enjoying their families, friends, and city without fear.
