Nogales Hospitals at full Capacity
NOGALES, ARIZONA, US – Coronavirus infection cases in the town of Nogales, Sonora are rapidly rising and hospital occupancy for Covid-19 cases is almost saturated.
Of the approximately 180 beds available for Covid-19 patient care in Nogales, most are already occupied.
Local Health Director, Jesus Dicochea, released a detailed report regarding the occupation of beds at the public hospitals, which are the only ones that provide medical attention to Coronavirus patients.
At the General Hospital, there are 42 Covid-19 patient care beds, of which 40 are in use. There are an additional 42 beds for general use and only one is free.
At the Mexican Institute of Social Safety (IMSS) there are between 100 and 122 beds assigned for Covid-19 patients, of which 94 are occupied. It has an additional 44 beds for general use of which 38 are occupied.
At Issste hospital there are seven Covid-19 beds available and all beds are occupied. It also has ten general care beds for procedures other than Covid-19.
At Isssteson there are eight Covid-19 patient care beds and all eight are occupied.
Private hospitals in Nogales, like Centro Medico, Kalitea Clinic, and Hospital del Socorro, currently do not receive Covid-19 patients.

Earlier this week, Enrique Claussen Iberri, Secretary of Health for Sonora urged the community of Nogales to consider this and stay home as much as possible with the hashtag #QuédateenCasa.
