Mom Infected With Covid-19 Gives Birth To Healthy Baby Boy
SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, SONORA – Early Wednesday morning, the first baby was born from a Mom infected with Covid-19 in Sonora.
The infant was born in perfect health at the Hospital General of San Luis Rio Colorado, reported the Secretary of Health, Enrique Clausen Iberri.
He explained that the 23-year-old patient tested positive for the virus on May 18, she presented mild symptoms and was placed in quarantine.
“After 12 hours in labor, a beautiful baby boy was born. He weighed 3,750 kilograms and measured 51 cm, he is in perfect health and is being fed breast milk’’, he added.
He explained that the young mother is in good health, and does not require oxygen support, however, she will remain isolated from her baby until she tests negative for the virus. Tests are expected to be performed again between the 4th and 7th of June.
“This is her second child, and along with his 6-year-old brother, they will stay with their grandmother while the mother completes her isolation period’’, he said.
Clausen Iberri thanked the dedication and skills of Dr. Paola Mendez, who attended the childbirth along with the doctors Luis Garcia and Marina Zazueta who supported the process, as well as the medical personnel of the hospital for the tireless work that they perform.
