Minors Caught Smuggling Ammunition

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, SONORA, MX – Two juveniles were detained by state authorities when smuggling about five hundred 50-caliber ammunition into Mexico.

According to an official report, the seizure was made Tuesday at the International Border Port of San Luis, Arizona – San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

Agents of the Public Safety State Police (PESP) received a support request made by customs inspectors at Border Port 1, located in the neighborhood Cuauhtemoc.

Customs authorities reported to state authorities that two juveniles, both age 17 and traveling in a Ford Expedition, tried to introduce five hundred 50 caliber bullets in a bag found on the back seat.

The state authorities arrested the underage residents and seized the ammunition. Both the juveniles and the cargo were turned over to federal authorities for prosecution.
