Measures Against Covid-19 Strengthened in Nogales
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – With the peak of Covid-19 contagion that runs from May 10 to 20, according to the forecast of the State Epidemiological Unit, and the increase in the number of confirmed cases, the Government of the City of Nogales reinforced the preventive measures, to stop the mobility of vehicles and people, during the next fifteen days.
In the last few hours alone, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased to 72 at the border city of Nogales, with a state total of 744.
Death toll cumulative in Sonora is 58, five correspond to Nogales.
Jesus Alberto Dicochea, health department director in Nogales, reiterated the importance of staying safe at home during this most critical period of the contingency.
“It is important that citizens recognize that we are in the most critical stage regarding the pandemic and it is expected that the transmission curve of the disease will rise,” he said.
For this reason, citizens must have awareness and the authorities must reinforce preventive measures for Covid-19; since in the last 48 hours until March 14, the number of confirmed cases went from 56 to 72.
Based on the information provided by the state health authorities and the instructions sent by the State Health Council, it is of utmost importance to reinforce the “Stay at home” program, he reiterated.
Likewise, an appeal was made to visitors who come from the United States through the ports of entry, to refrain from doing so, since the revisions in the sanitary filters will be more scrupulous and the waiting times will be lengthened.
Within the reinforcement of these measures, it was agreed by representatives to temporarily restrict the circulation of vehicles that are members of organizations such as Condefa, FEA, and others.
People who have essential reasons to go out should do so in a very responsible way since it’s the best way to prevent infection. Among essential reasons are grocery shopping, medicine purchase, hospital visits, bank visit, essential job commute, or assisting a person with a disability or of older age.
They must also follow the instructions provided at the start of this health contingency, such as hand washing; use of face-mask, traveling only one person per vehicle, and to avoid infractions they must carry a valid license and car documentation while driving.
