Married Couple Fakes Kidnapping

HERMOSILLO, SONORA, MX – A woman and her husband are under arrest for faking her kidnapping to extort her mother. The woman is identified as Martha Elizabeth N and her husband as Juan Samuel N.

Both conspirators face justice for the crime of Aggravated Extortion and remain detained in prison.

The victim, Elizabeth Eduviges N, mother to the conspirator told her story to the police. She started receiving phone calls from her daughter’s cell phone, saying that she had been detained at Pesqueira Station.

The conspirator told her mother that she needed to deposit 20,000 pesos urgently.

The victim says she also heard the voice of her son-in-law Juan Samuel N. He told her that Martha Elizabeth N had problems with some “sicarios’’ and they kidnapped, beat, and raped her. The word “sicarios” refers to armed groups within the drug cartels.

Elizabeth Eduviges told the agents of the Ministerial Agency for Criminal Investigation (AMIC) that she was only able to collect 10,000 pesos, which she deposited right away.

Shortly after she made the deposit, Elizabeth Eduviges received another call from her son-in-law. Juan Samuel N called to say that the amount requested by the “sicarios” had increased to 25,000 pesos.

Police Report

The victim was not able to get any more money and she decided to report the case to the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ).

Officials from the Extortion area of ​​the Specialized Unit to Combat Kidnapping initiated the investigations. They managed to locate Martha Elizabeth N, daughter of the complainant.

Martha Elizabeth was located in a hotel in Hermosillo. Police conducted the operation working under the assumption that the young woman’s life could be in danger.

Inside the hotel room, they found Martha Elizabeth N accompanied by her husband Juan Samuel N. They both confessed that they agreed to fake the kidnapping in order to get the money.
