Man Seeking to Cross the Border is Held Against His Will for Three Days
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Three men lock an immigrant from the state of Durango in a house for three days. The victim had arrived in Nogales intending to cross the border into the United States.
A statement by local police officers indicates that a 911 call received at 8:48 am on Sunday alerting police agents to be dispatched to Municipio de Arivechi street, in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.
A woman met police officers and said that moments before the victim arrived requesting help.
Victim’s Account
The victim identified himself as 28-year-old Elier from the state of Durango. The victim also added that his intention of traveling to this city was to cross into the United States.
On July 2, the victim arrived in Nogales through the bus line Tufesa. He was immediately approached by three men that stated they would be the ones to take him to the United States and that he should stay in their house.
He willingly went to the house but was locked in by the three men. On Sunday, he took advantage of a moment when the men opened the house and fled. The immigrant asked for help from the people he saw in the area.
The immigrant said he did not know the names of those who kept him locked up nor the location of the house.
