Lighting Damages Water Supply in Nogales

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Lightning strikes electricity lines of the Nogales water department and damages the water supply to the south area of the city.

Workers from Oomapas reported that the week before, the lightning strikes damaged a different electric installation, but the problem was quickly solved by the CFE.

Between Sunday night and Monday morning, another lightning strike occurred to the south of the city. This time cutting the underground electric power network of the water well “El Bocho’’, at south Nogales.

The discharge led to residents of the Nuevo Nogales neighborhood without water, mainly affecting the streets New Zealand, New Austria, New Denmark, New Egypt, New Italy, New Nigeria, New Ireland, New Guinea, and New Turkey running out of water.

The electric discharge damaged one of the fuses, which must be repaired by a specialist. On Monday around 17:00 the electricity supply was reactivated, managing to resume the distribution of water in the next hours.
