Large Drug Seizure at Nogales Port of Entry

NOGALES, ARIZONA, US – On Tuesday U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrest multiple people for their respective alleged attempts to smuggle more than 111 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 pounds of fentanyl pills and 1/3 pound of Xanax pills through the Nogales port of entry.

Officers at the DeConcini port of entry sent a 66-year-old legal permanent resident man to a secondary inspection of his pick-up truck as he attempted to enter the United States.

According to a press release, the inspection led to the discovery of 68 packages hidden inside a custom made compartment in the truck bed.

The contents were determined to be 108 pounds of methamphetamine and 5 pounds of Fentanyl pills.

On the same day, officers at the ports of entry DeConcini and Mariposa sent 4 US citizen pedestrians, for a secondary inspection. The searches resulted in the seizure of 4 pounds of methamphetamine, a quarter-pound of fentanyl pills, and one-third pound of Xanax pills.

Officers seized the narcotics and vehicle, arrested all suspects and turned them over to the pertaining authorities.
