Juvenile Detained in Drug Smuggling Attempt
NOGALES, SONORA, USA – A 15-year-old juvenile was detained at a Nogales Port of Entry while trying to smuggle 0.4 pounds (181 grams) of heroin into the United States.
According to the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the minor was detained at one of the border crossing ports of entry in the city of Nogales.
The juvenile hid the heroin in a small bundle attached to his body.
Methamphetamine Seized in Yuma
Drug seizures were not limited to Nogales. In a Yuma immigration control checkpoint, CBP offices seized 1.14 kilos (2.52lbs) of methamphetamine.
The drug was hidden at the bottom of a cooler filled with ice and drinks, which three U.S. citizens transported in a Nissan Kiks rental vehicle.
The driver is a 57-year-old U.S. citizen of Phoenix, who was accompanied by two males of ages 42 and 52 of Tucson.
