#JusticiaParaAnaPaola – Murderer Sentenced to 70 Years in Prison

Eight days after the heinous events that occurred on April 2 in Nogales, Sonora, the authorities concluded the investigation and a Judge sentenced the accused.
Contreras Cordova, said they were able to confirm blame through the use of scientific testing of evidence from the laboratory.
Ana Paola’s Case – #JusticiaParaAnaPaola
Ana Paola, 13 years old, was murdered in her home in Nogales, Sonora on April 2. She was home alone during the coronavirus stay home initiative while her relative was grocery shopping.
The case became a trend on Twitter with the hashtag #JusticiaParaAnaPaola (Justice for Ana Paola). On April 5, the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was questioned by the press regarding the case. At the same time in Nogales several outraged citizens urged justice for Ana Paola.
Evidence
According to a bulletin from the Attorney General, multiple evidence was tested including genetic DNA comparisons carried out by staff of the Forensic Scientific Intelligence Laboratory (CIF). The results credited responsibility of the heinous acts to José Ramón “N”, 32 years old. A warrant for his arrest was issued by authorities and executed on Thursday April 9. Jose Ramon “N” confessed to the crime accepting responsibility before the Judge and his defense attorney. The individual plead guilty to entering the victim’s home with the intent to commit femicide and robbery.
At a hearing held this Friday, March 10, the attorney general investigators provided conclusive evidence to the Judge, who sentenced the accused to 70 years in prison after a brief procedure for the crimes committed.
The investigation was led by the State Police officers and prosecutors of Sonora. It included various interviews with witnesses and video recordings provided by individuals and business owners. The authorities involved were the National Guard, SEDENA, the State Police for Public Safety and the local Police. A search was carried out at the defendant’s resulting in finding and confiscation of objects that were linked to the theft. Items such as clothing and other objects. The accused admitted he had already sold some stolen items, but authorities were able to recover all.
The Arrest
At the time of the arrest, the individual tried to flee and was carrying a bladed weapon. He attacked authorities but was finally restrained.
José Ramón “N” is from Agua Prieta, Sonora and had been previously sentenced to six years in prison for robbing a pharmacy. He acknowledged to be addicted to amphetamine, crystal meth and fentanyl.
“With the result of the investigation and the sentence obtained today, we honor her memory and respond to the trust her family put in us”, stated Claudia Indira Contreras, Attorney General of Justice.
