Ivermectin is Scarce in Nogales’ Pharmacies
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – The drug Ivermectin has started to become scarce in pharmacies due to the high demand for its use as a treatment for Covid-19.
Ivermectin is not approved as a treatment for Covid-19 by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, or by the US Food and Drug Administration, yet sales are experiencing strong demand. The same thing occurs with the drugs Azithromycin and Oseltamivir. People rush to Nogales’ pharmacies to buy them in bulk. Ivermectin shipments continue to arrive in Nogales, but pharmacies report that it is selling out in just a few hours.
Ivermectin costs about $16 for four pills, while Oseltamivir can range from $20 to $38 depending on the laboratory that produces it.
