Illegal Immigrant Accused of Sexual Abuse is Extradited to Mexico Through Nogales

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – A Mexican national, wanted in his native country for sexual abuse and rape of a child, was removed from the USA on Friday by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and transferred to the custody of the Mexican Federal Police.

On Jan. 2, the Attorney General’s Office in Sonora, Mexico, issued a warrant against Rodrigo Castillo Alvarez (a.k.a. Oscar Castillo or Alfonso Castillo Delgado) for the offenses of sexual abuse, rape of a child and child molestation. According to Mexican police records, Alvarez was alleged one of two predators who raped a female child under the age of 12.

Alvarez of age 45, came into ICE custody on April 23, following his arrest by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on drug and money laundering charges. On May 1, Mexican authorities notified ERO Phoenix that Alvarez was subject to an outstanding arrest warrant. On May 23, an immigration judge in Eloy, Arizona, ordered Alvarez removed from the United States.

“Foreign fugitives attempting to avoid prosecution of violent crimes committed in their home country will not find sanctuary in the United States,” said Albert Carter, acting field office director for ERO Phoenix. “ICE will continue to work with our international counterparts to aggressively pursue criminals who threaten the public safety of our local-area communities.”

ICE is focused on removing public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws, including those who illegally re-enter the country after a prior removal, and immigration fugitives ordered removed by federal immigration judges.
