Firearms and Ammunition Seized at Puerta de Mexico
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Two male suspects were detained in two separate incidents that happened at the Nogales Ports of Entry, where officers seized firearms and magazines.
According to a National Guard press release, arrests were made last Saturday, when Guillermo N, who was driving a red Chevrolet Silverado, in which a firearm was secured, was arrested at the Puerta de Mexico checkpoint.
During the inspection, customs officials observed a case on the middle seat containing a Smith & Wesson pistol, caliber 40, with series FBU8976, and a magazine supplied with seven useful cartridges.
The statement indicates that another firearm magazine was also found, stocked with nine useful 40-millimeter caliber cartridges and 273 useful cartridges, Winchester brand, of caliber 40.
Both the detainee, named Guillermo N as well as the vehicle and the weapons, were transferred to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for the corresponding preliminary investigation.
In another incident that occurred at the same gate of the Puerta de Mexico customs office, at 11:15 pm on Sunday, a motorist was stopped when he received a red light for inspection. Salvador N was traveling in a red Honda sedan car without license plates, and they found 20 chargers for firearms under the driver’s side mat.
