Firearms and Ammunition Found in Vehicle
NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Thirteen rifles, two handguns, 5049 ammunition, 42 magazines, and about $12,156 in cash, were seized at Garita Mariposa, on the Mexican side.
The objects were found hidden inside the car’s dashboard, the floor of the rear seats, and the spare tire of a truck, as well as inside two washing machines.
According to the National Guard, the seizure was made in coordination with the Mexican Army. During the incident, a Mexican national with legal residence in the United States was arrested.
The illegal merchandise was found during a customs inspection in which authorities discovered that the tub of a washing machine contained clothing and hidden ammunition. When they continued inspection they found more in different areas of the truck.
