Fentanyl Seized at Checkpoints in Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – On Tuesday evening, Border Patrol agents at the I-8 immigration checkpoint encountered three subjects attempting to transport fentanyl pills.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a 2009 Ford Focus with three individuals stopped at the checkpoint.

According to a report, a Border Patrol K-9 agent alerted to the vehicle and the vehicle was sent to secondary inspection. Agents found a backpack located in the back seat of the vehicle containing four bags of fentanyl pills. The total weight of the pills was 2.45 pounds, and the approximate value is $33,000.

The driver, a 35-year-old female, the front seat passenger a 55-year-old male, and the rear seat passenger a 31-year-old male, were all US Citizens. The back seat passenger was arrested for possession with intent and violation of supervised release. The narcotics and vehicle were seized.
