Excessive Heat Warning This Weekend

NOGALES, ARIZONA, USA – The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for this weekend impacting Arizona.

The heat warning includes Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma and high heat warning will continue through Sunday. According to forecasters, temperatures could reach 107 degrees which will cause dangerously hot conditions in Phoenix and other parts of south-central Arizona.

Following this weekend, temperatures will cool off slightly next week.

Find air conditioning

Avoid strenuous activities

Wear light clothing

Check on family members and neighbors

Drink plenty of fluids

Watch for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke

Never leave people or pets in a closed car
Heat cramps – Muscle pains or spasms in the stomach, arms or legs

Heat exhaustion – Heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache, fainting, nausea, vomiting

Heatstroke – Extremely high body temperature (above 103 degrees) taken orally. Red, hot and dry skin with no sweat. Rapid, strong pulse. Dizziness, confusion or unconsciousness
When temperatures reach over 100 degrees dogs’ paws can burn and cause overheating

Give your pet plenty of fresh, clean water
Never leave your pet alone in a closed car

Do not leave your pet unsupervised around a pool

Trim your dog’s hair, but never shave
