Excessive Heat Warning for Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZONA, USA – An extreme heat alert was issued for Arizona by the National Weather Service, which will begin this Wednesday at noon and will last until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Weather conditions may exceed the 100 degrees Fahrenheit mark. For Tucson and surrounding areas, temperatures are expected to range between 102 and 109 degrees.

In the case of Ajo, where illegal migratory flows are common, the temperature conditions could reach 108 degrees, while in Sells they could reach 107.

At the border in cities like Nogales and Douglas the weather conditions are forecasted at around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Find air conditioning

Avoid strenuous activities

Wear light clothing

Check on family members and neighbors

Drink plenty of fluids

Watch for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke

Never leave people or pets in a closed car
Heat cramps – Muscle pains or spasms in the stomach, arms or legs

Heat exhaustion – Heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache, fainting, nausea, vomiting

Heatstroke – Extremely high body temperature (above 103 degrees) taken orally. Red, hot and dry skin with no sweat. Rapid, strong pulse. Dizziness, confusion or unconsciousness
When temperatures reach over 100 degrees dogs’ paws can burn and cause overheating

Give your pet plenty of fresh, clean water
Never leave your pet alone in a closed car

Do not leave your pet unsupervised around a pool

Trim your dog’s hair, but never shave
