Eight Drivers Arrested, Dozens More Sent Home

NOGALES, SONORA, MX.- Eight drivers were arrested and dozens more sent to their homes during last sunday, as part of a police operation to ban the presence of crowds at recreational sites as part of Covid-19’s spread prevention strategies.

Local agents, health workers and Civil Protection, as well as emergency corporations, installed inspection filters over the weekend. They installed primarily on roads that lead to these recreational sites.

In addition the owners of recreational places like Mascareñas, Cíbuta and La Arizona, were asked not to open to the public on these Easter days.

Police officers also placed DUI control points. Eight motorists were arrested at these check points.

Authorities announced that they will continue with these checkpoints to invite the community to stay home and ask them to not visit recreational areas because the high risk of being infected with Covid-19.
