Drug-Trafficking Drones-Arizona
YUMA, ARIZONA, USA – A drone crossed the international border between the United States and Mexico and left drug packages in a nearby community where a 17-year-old minor tried to hide them but was detained.
According to reports by the Border Patrol, the case occurred in the reigon of San Luis.
Early Wednesday, immigration agents observed a drone that dropped several packages in a residential area. They also observed a young man picking up the packages, officers were dispatched to the scene with a K-9.
The dog alerted officials to the 17-year-old’s vehicle, where they located nine packages containing 5.44 kilograms (11.99 lbs) of methamphetamine.
The teenager was arrested for drug possession, while the narcotics and the vehicle were seized. This is the second recent case where a drone is used for drug smuggling.
