Distance Education Resumes April 20

HERMOSILLO, SONORA, MX.– On April 20, online classes for basic level students in Sonora will restart, announced the Secretary of Education and Culture (SEC).

Patricia Calles Villegas, undersecretary of Basic Education in Sonora, indicated that just as it was prior to spring break, which concludes this Friday, distance education is resumed through SEC social networks, the web portal www.yoremia.gob.mx, and television channel Telemax.

Local schedules will be by school level and will be announced in the next days, she said.  They will be set according to the contents and programming established by the Public Education Secretary (SEP).  Calles Villegas asked parents to check on SEC’s social networks.

The officer also remarks the importance of the participation of the educational structure as a whole.  Since the implementation of the strategy, chief sectors, supervisors, managers and technical pedagogical advisers are essential in the follow-up, monitoring of progress and identification of successes and areas for improvement.

“Today more than ever our girls, boys and juveniles need us, so recognizing the great professionalism, dedication and commitment that characterizes the Sonoran teachers, we are sure that we will count as always with their determined participation, to provide quality education and excellence at a distance to our students”, she added.

Teachers and parents will be notified of various training and accompaniment activities to establish the foundations of a sustainable and scalable distance education system that allows continuity of study plans and programs.

She emphasized that the results in the previous stage of online classes were significant and asked to strengthen communication between teachers, administrators, students and mothers, fathers or guardians, to achieve the objectives.

The undersecretary reiterated the call to remain vigilant and informed of the official communication issued by the General Health Council, the State Health Commission, SEP and SEC, for the proper attention of this contingency.
