Crossing Illegal Substance Attempts Continue
NOGALES, ARIZONA, US – Fentanyl and methamphetamines are some of the drugs that criminals continue to attempt to transfer across the international ports of entry between Mexico and United States.
In Nogales, the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old Mexican who was carrying 66 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a sedan.
Also in Nogales, but at an immigration checkpoint located on Interstate 19, between Nogales and Tucson, Border Patrol agents arrested a 24-year-old US citizen. The woman was traveling as a passenger in a Honda sedan and she was hiding 141.2 grams of fentanyl and 3.2 grams of methamphetamine inside her body.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, was released, but faces possible criminal charges linked to the case.
A third incident occurred in San Luis where two individuals, both US citizens tried to cross the border through the pedestrian gates, hiding methamphetamines and fentanyl in their pelvic area. The 27-year-old individual, whose identity was not disclosed, was hiding methamphetamines and the 19-year-old carried fentanyl.
