Party Shut Down Amid Covid-19 Pandemic
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic and without paying attention to the state government’s recommendations to avoid crowds, local police officers shut down a party where about 20 people were participating.
The incident occurred at 5 p.m. when agents received a report requesting assistance in the neighborhood Pima.
The agents found approximately 20 people drinking alcoholic beverages on the street.
They explained to the participants of the party that due to the Covid-19 health emergency there are restrictions in place that prohibit massive celebrations parties. It is also not permitted to drink alcohol on public streets.
Most of the people accepted the recommendation and decided to withdraw, but, one of them, was upset and tried to assault police officers. The individual was immediately arrested. He was identified as Lorenzo, 44.
Two Men Found Dead
Two men were found fatally shot in the first few minutes of Friday morning in the eastern sector of the border town of Nogales.
One of the victims is identified as Valentin, 64. The identity of the second person is unknown at this time.
According to official reports, the crimes were called in at 0:09 a.m. on Friday, when local police received an emergency call requesting that they go to Usumacinta Street, in the Embarcadero neighborhood.
The bodies of the two men were found inside one of the houses. State authorities arrived at the scene to collect evidence and requested the bodies to be transferred to a funeral home.
No further information has been released.
Individual Arrested for Possession of Illegal Substances
Cesar, 22, nicknamed “El Chicharo’’, was arrested by local police in possession of 13 doses of an illegal drug. The individual was arrested on Torre Latinoamericana street, in the Las Torres habitation neighborhood.
The arrest was made at 1:25 p.m. when local police officers were patrolling the street Torre de Marfil. Police officers noticed a person that was acting evasive and nervous as soon as he saw the police officers.
Agents stopped the suspect and in inspection they found the drugs on the suspect’s clothes. The subject was detained.
