Armed Robbery in Local Pharmacy

Benavides pharmacy located on Kennedy Street was robbed by an armed man on Sunday morning.

Business employees reported to authorities that the assault occurred at 11:42 a.m., when a person entered the pharmacy with his face covered with a handkerchief.

After browsing through the isles, he went to the cash register where he showed a handgun to the teller stating that it was a robbery. The robber took the money and escaped.


Ten-Year-Old Boy Beat in His Home

A ten-year-old boy was hit with a metal pipe by other children Sunday night in a neighborhood at East of Nogales.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. when local police officers received an emergency report that required assistance at Santa Clara street, in the Misión de Anza neighborhood.

Cecilia N, 38, said that moments before, children came to her house with the intent to beat her 10-year-old son with a pipe.

A neighbor witnessed what was happening and helped the boy by running off the attackers. The mother of the family was asked to file a complaint.


Person Found Dead Downtown Nogales

An individual was found dead on street downtown ​Nogales.

The incident occurred at 6:37 a.m. when police officers received an emergency report at the 911 emergency phone line. The report required agents to go to Avenida Ruiz Cortines stating that a person was lying on the ground outside a store.

The agents arrived and found an individual of approximately 45 years of age whose identity was unknown.

The officers called in paramedics of the Red Cross, who tried to provide CPR but the person was deceased.


Fiber-optic Cable and Copper Wire Stolen

65 meters of fiber optic cable and 55 of copper wire, were stolen from home telephone poles owned by the company Telmex.

The theft was reported Sunday at 3:25 p.m. when a company worker received a call informing him about a robbery alarm being activated on Carretera Internacional and Puente de Encinas, south of Nogales.

The worker reported the theft and local police instructed the representative to file a criminal complaint for the theft.
