Children Rescued From Domestic Violence Situation

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – Thanks to a report from the neighbors, local police officers arrested a couple accused of hitting their two daughters and having them live in precarious conditions.

The detained are 40-year-old Florentino N and 43-year-old Alejandra N.

The case occurred on Thursday night when residents of the Fundo Legal neighborhood overheard the couple arguing, a situation that they described as a common occurrence, but this time they were also assaulting their daughters, ages 5 and 8.

Neighbors reported that the couple also commonly leave their daughters alone in the hose and lock the door, so they decided to call the police.

The agents confirmed that the living conditions are precarious. They reported the case to the Municipal Office for the Defense of Minors, who will take custody of the children until the family situation is under investigation.

The parents were read their rights and arrested, while the minors were transferred to receive a full medical checkup. The children will remain in the custody of workers in the shelter of the Integral Family Development (DIF).
