Chief of PESP Presents His Resignation
HERMOSILLO, SONORA, MEXICO – Effective June 1, Jose Luis Urban Ocampo presented his resignation to the position of general commissioner of the Public Safety State Police (PESP) in Sonora citing personal reasons.
The police chief has held that position since August 2019 with positive results in the fight against crime, according to a PESP statement.
During the nine months of his administration, the PESP arrested 1,342 people for crime and processed 5,968 fines in the municipalities of the state.
In actions against drug dealing, marijuana plantations, and the equivalent of more than 51,244,129 doses of narcotic-like substances, such as crystal, cocaine, liquid methamphetamine, heroin, psychotropic pills, among others, were seized during his administration.
In operations, 342 firearms, 10 grenades, 37,557 cartridges were seized. In addition, 416 vehicles with a theft report were recovered and more than $61,000 have been secured in different actions with the authorities of the three levels of government.
The operational base of the PESP was launched in the municipality of Guaymas and in the entity, the operability of the tasks of citizen proximity was reinforced.
Through ground and air patrols that have managed to seize plantations, weapons, vehicles, and secure more than 7,000 people for different crimes.
