Camouflaged Illegals Lead Border Patrol To Desert Camp
TUCSON, ARIZONA, US – More than 30 illegal people were detained by the Border Patrol on Friday afternoon. They were inside a humanitarian camp of the organization No More Deaths located in Arivaca.
The pro-immigrant organization released a statement saying that the officers did not show a search warrant and they were not wearing face-masks.
According to the statement, the previous day (Thursday), Border Patrol entered the camp to arrest a person. Also, they maintained 24-hour surveillance on the perimeter of that migrant assistance site.
The camp is called Byrd Camp and it is located in the Arivaca region, west of Tucson.
“Yesterday, the Border Patrol harmed 30 people in irreparable ways. On a daily basis, those who migrate through the Arizona desert are targeted, terrorized, detained, and deported,” No More Deaths wrote in a statement.
“Last night we witnessed these tactics deployed against people who sought medical care and relief at our Byrd Camp aid station,” they added.
Border Patrol Response
Roy D. Villarreal, chief of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol, released images of people dressed in military camouflage clothing walking in the desert. He added that the trail left by these individuals is what led them to the No More Deaths Camp.
He indicates that the camp is on a route used by human and drug traffickers. In an additional statement issued Saturday at noon, chief Villareal referred to the incident on Friday.
“Last night, Border Patrol agents from the Tucson sector, with the support of CBP Air and Marine Operation’s Tucson Air Branch, executed a federal search warrant on the No More Deaths camp, near Arivaca. Upon entry, over three dozen illegal border crossers were found in the camp, “’ he wrote.
