Border Crossing Decreases Considerably
Tucson, Arizona, United States –
The department of Customs and Border Protection (@CBP) reported: a 72% decrease of motorists and an 83% decrease in pedestrian border crossing at the south border ports of entry.
The decrease in border crossing from Mexico to the U.S.A. is likely due to the border restrictions implemented by CBP as of March 21, which consist of only allowing entry into North America for travel listed as “essential”.
CBP added that since February Border Patrol findings of undocumented immigrants have decreased by 7% and detentions have dropped by 76% when compared to May 2019, which is when they reached the highest number of detentions due to the humanitarian immigration crisis.
Likewise, as of March 21, undocumented inmmigrants that have been detained at the border with Mexico have been returned to Mexican territory in an average of two hours.
Since March 21, custody by Border Patrol on the southwest border has decreased by approximately 140% which is a 95% decrease from the estimated average of 3,000.
