Authorities Rescue Two Kidnapped People

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, SONORA, MX – Two people who were kidnaped and locked up in a safehouse, were rescued by state authorities and the National Guard.

According to reports from the Public Safety State Police, the rescue happened on Friday morning when authorities attended a report stating that a person was kidnaped in a house in the Comercial neighborhood.

State and Municipal Police agents went to the address located on Avenida 16 de Septiembre between Calle 7 and 8, where they rescued two hostages.

Upon arrival, a man signaled to the police and identified himself as the one who requested help. He stated that he was being held hostage along with another person inside the home. And that the kidnappers were asking the families of the hostages for ransom.

The coordinated operation rescued the victims from the safe house and arrested the alleged criminals, identified as 24-year-old Edgar N, and 29-year-old Oscar.

During the inspection, the suspect named Edgar N was caught with two cell phones, which were seized; both he and Oscar N were informed of their rights and arrested.

At the rescue site, the officers found a Nissan Altima, in which, according to the victims, they had been transferred from Mexicali to San Luis Rio Colorado.

They also found an 8-month-old lioness in the backyard.

It will be the State Attorney General’s Office that will be in charge of the corresponding investigations to define responsibilities.
